What if Christmas were just the baby in the manger.
A couple of astonished shepherds. A few animals.
An exhausted Mary. An anxious Joseph.
No wise men, because they haven’t arrived yet.
No lights.
No evergreen tree, real or fake.
No ornaments. No tinsel.
No presents.
No carols.
No fireplace.
No stockings.
No Santa.
No chimney.
No cookies and milk.
No reindeer.
No snow.
Just Jesus.
Wrapped in swaddling clothes.
God incarnate in a manger.
The only gift, a Savior come to take my place on the cross.
Would I still celebrate?
Great reminder! Thanks Chris!
